Memaknai Kembali Ruang Alam Sebagai Kesadaran Lingkungan Masyarakat Desa Bermi Pasca Bencana Banjir

This article explores the transformation of environmental awareness in Bermi Village, Krucil District, Probolinggo Regency which originally had an exploitative behavior pattern that resulted in ecological degradation and flood disasters. The researcher analyzed referring to Ulirich Beck's theory of risk society where floods are understood as a failure of modernity that can demand critical reflection. The presence of the community of water lovers and the environment of the Argopuro slopes emerged as an empowerment agent that seeks to bridge the gap between people's cognitive knowledge of risks and preventive actions in the field. The purpose of this research is to reveal nature conservation efforts and explain how people interpret life experiences after environmental disasters. The research method uses a qualitative phenomenological approach to explore the inner world of society. The data used were collected through participatory observation and in-depth interviews with key informants that the researcher had selected based on purposive sampling. The results of the study show that people's environmental awareness was born from the trauma space of the 2001 flood which changed the structure of people's knowledge about nature. Through Anthony Giddens' view, the Argopuro Slope Water and Environmental Lovers Community succeeded in carrying out a new action routine that collapsed the old behavioral structure that was exploitative into preservative. This success is not only physically seen through the return of 19 springs and the status of the 2020 Proklim Village. But also in subjective micro-transformations where people reinterpret their natural space. Resilience in Bermi Village was born from a combination of grassroots sub-political courage and a reflexive awareness of modernity to maintain the sustainability of future generations' living spaces.
