Abstract

Orphanages serve as crucial institutions that function as substitutes for family environments for children who have lost parental figures. The absence of a primary caregiver often results in emotional voids and spiritual vulnerability. The main issue identified at the Beriku Hati Orphanage is the children's lack of understanding regarding God's presence in their daily lives, which hinders the optimal development of their religious character. This community service activity aims to instill religious values through the implementation of the concept "God is Present in the Family." The methodology utilized is participatory action research, conducted through a series of spiritual mentoring sessions, focus group discussions, and daily reflections designed to internalize values of compassion. The results demonstrate a significant increase in the children's religious awareness, indicated by more consistent discipline in worship, the emergence of empathetic behavior among the residents, and the children's improved ability to manage emotions through a theological perspective. In conclusion, this theological approach to family proves effective in creating a supportive and warm atmosphere within the orphanage. This program successfully strengthens the foundation of the children's religious character and provides a concrete solution for the psychosocial and spiritual development of children in care, offering a potential sustainable mentoring model for similar social welfare institutions.
