Abstract

This study discusses the transformation of Christian Religious Education (CRE) in addressing the spirituality challenges of Generation Z in the digital era and Society 5.0. Generation Z grows up in an environment dominated by technology, social media, and unlimited access to information, which significantly influences their spiritual life, identity, and moral values. The purpose of this study is to analyze the role of transformative Christian Religious Education in strengthening the spirituality and character of Generation Z. This research uses a qualitative approach through literature study by examining various journals, articles, and relevant theories related to Christian education, spirituality, and Generation Z. The findings show that the transformation of CRE can be carried out through contextual, interactive, and technology-based learning approaches. In addition, teachers play an important role not only as educators but also as spiritual mentors who guide students in building authentic faith and Christian character. The study also reveals that the integration of digital media, contextual learning models, and spiritual values can increase students’ engagement and spiritual awareness. Therefore, the transformation of Christian Religious Education becomes a strategic response in shaping a generation that is intellectually capable, spiritually mature, and able to face the challenges of modern society while maintaining Christian values.
