Abstract

This study examines how the people of Bermi Village form and preserve local wisdom as a cultural identity derived from the folklore of Dewi Rengganis. The method used in this study is qualitative descriptive with an ethnographic approach. The source of data is obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation. The informant chosen by the researcher was a community leader in Bermi Village. The analysis knife used, namely symbolic interactionism as the main analysis knife, will then be strengthened with the theory of representation by Stuart Hall as a companion to strengthen the analysis of cultural identity. The results of this study explain that the story of Dewi Rengganis is a source of values and beliefs that shape cultural practices such as offering offerings and climbing rituals that have been passed down from generation to generation. This local wisdom is not only used as a cultural identity, but also as a social communication channel that strengthens the solidarity and spirituality of the people of Bermi Village.
