Keywords:
community training, butterfly pea flower, medicinal plantsAbstract
Banjarejo Village has considerable potential in family medicinal plants (Tanaman Obat Keluarga/TOGA), one of which is butterfly pea flower (Clitoria ternatea). However, its utilization by the community is still limited to simple consumption as a fresh beverage, which does not yet provide significant added value in terms of shelf life or economic potential. This community service activity aimed to improve community knowledge and skills in processing butterfly pea flowers into herbal tea products with higher value. The implementation method included observation of local medicinal plant potential, delivery of educational materials on the benefits of butterfly pea flowers, demonstration of processing techniques, and hands-on practice in producing butterfly pea flower herbal tea. The training involved community members of Banjarejo Village, particularly members of the PKK women's group. Evaluation of the activity was conducted through participant response questionnaires and observation during the training process. The results showed that participants responded very positively to the training activities. Participant enthusiasm reached 92%, which falls into the very high category. In addition, participants’ understanding of the training materials obtained an average score of 80, categorized as high. Participation in practical activities reached 85%, while participation in discussions reached 88%, indicating active engagement throughout the training. This community service activity had a positive impact in increasing community knowledge and skills in processing butterfly pea flowers into herbal tea products. Therefore, the training is expected to encourage the utilization of butterfly pea flowers as a value-added product with potential to improve the economic welfare of the village.
