This study aims to explore the subjective experiences of individuals in developing self-awareness and self-compassion through meditation practice. Using a descriptive phenomenological qualitative approach, data were collected through an open-ended questionnaire distributed via Google Form to five participants aged 18–50 years with a minimum of three months' meditation experience at a frequency of at least three times per week. Data analysis employed reflexive thematic analysis (Braun & Clarke, 2006; 2019). The study identified five main themes: (1) increased emotional and cognitive awareness, (2) reduced self-criticism, (3) strengthened self-compassion, (4) improved emotion regulation, and (5) shifted perspectives toward failure and imperfection. Findings indicate that consistent meditation practice significantly contributes to the development of self-compassion and self-awareness through mechanisms of acceptance, self-forgiveness, and release of suppressive psychological conditions. The implications are vital for developing mindfulness-based mental health programs in Indonesia.
